PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE 2004 to Present - Owner/Operator, Sailing and Self-Awareness for Women and Their Shipmates. Presented large group seminars "When Mars and Venus Go Boating" discussing the difference between male and female realities and how this manifests on a boat. Conducted individual and small group hands-on seminars and classes on Flicka, my 32' Allied Seawind ketch, as well as teaching on private vessels. Chartered aboard Restless, a Cape Dory 40, in the Spanish Virgin Islands. 1988 to 2003 - Owner/Operator, Herizen™ Sailing for Women Inc., personalized sailing and self-awareness instruction, on a a variety of sailboats up to 45 feet in British Columbia (Vancouver & Nanaimo), California (Sausalito & Santa Cruz), and Mexico (Loreto, La Paz, Baja.) Planned, organized, and implemented all aspects of a unique small business. Developed, wrote and edited course materials including notes, diagrams and teaching aids as well as authoring Sailing in Balance: A Boat and Sail Handling Manual for Women & Their Shipmates. 2000 - Skipper and Instructor, aboard 37' C&C, Tethra, from Maui to Honolulu, HI. 1996 to 1998 - Instructor, Community Education, Malaspina University-College, Nanaimo, B.C.
